The AlemHealth DICOM Viewer is a zero-footprint, HTML5-based diagnostic viewer built into your AlemHealth cloud workspace. It opens studies directly in the browser, with no plugin or local install required. Radiologists get full diagnostic toolsets (windowing, MPR, 3D, measurements, reporting), while referring physicians and technologists can use it for routine review. This article gives a quick tour so you know what to expect.
Who should use the viewer
The viewer supports four main user types. Radiologists use it for primary reading, measurement, and reporting. Referring clinicians use it to review studies on a patient they are treating. Technologists and radiographers use it for quick QC after acquisition. Facility IT and admins use it to validate integration and configure extensions. Every user sees the same interface, with available tools determined by account permissions.
Modalities supported
The viewer handles CT, MR, XR, CR, DR, US, MG, PT, NM, XA, RF, ECG, and multi-frame modalities. Multi-frame CT, MR, NM, MG, and OPT series render as a continuous image stack, and XA/US series can play as video.
What you can do
Core capabilities include windowing and presets, pan/zoom, series synchronization, reference lines, measurements (length, angle, Cobb, CTR, spine labeling, ROI, volume), annotations saved as Presentation State, Key Objects, MPR and 3D reconstruction, PET/CT fusion, DSA, cine playback, segmentation, hanging protocols, multi-monitor layout, reporting, printing, and export to DICOM or standard image formats.
How it connects
The viewer reads from your AlemHealth PACS. Studies routed from an AlemBox device, the AlemHealth Connect Uploader, or a direct DICOM send from your modality appear in the worklist within seconds. You launch the viewer from the worklist, a patient record, or a direct link.
Tips
- If you manage radiologists across sites, send this article as the starting point for onboarding. It frames what the viewer is before a new user opens their first study.
- The viewer is licensed by AlemHealth. Feature availability can vary by contract (for example, 3D rendering and reporting are module-gated). If a toolbar icon is missing, check with your AlemHealth account manager.
