Opening a study is the starting point for every workflow in the viewer. This article covers how to load a study, switch between series, and view individual images.
Step 1: Load the study
From the worklist, double-click the study row. The viewer opens with the first series displayed in the primary viewport. Subsequent series appear as thumbnails in the thumbnail panel.
Step 2: Switch between series
Drag a thumbnail into the viewport to load its series. To compare two series, switch to a multi-viewport layout (for example, 1x2) from the Layout menu and drag one series into each pane.
Step 3: Scroll through images
Use the mouse wheel, the up/down arrow keys, or the on-screen scrollbar to move between instances. For long CT or MR stacks, hold the Scroll button and drag to cover many slices quickly.
Step 4: Jump to a specific image
Right-click a viewport and choose Go to image, or use the instance counter at the bottom of the viewport. You can type an instance number to jump directly to it.
Step 5: Close the study
When you are done, close the browser tab or return to the worklist. Any measurements saved as Presentation State or Key Objects are persisted. Temporary windowing and zoom changes are discarded.
Tips
- Silent preload starts buffering other series in the background the moment a study opens. You usually do not need to wait for every series to load before reading.
- For thick-slice scrolling, hold Shift while using the mouse wheel to skip by five instances at a time. This is faster on large chest-abdomen-pelvis studies.
