Annotations let you mark and label findings. The viewer supports arrows, text boxes, freehand drawing, and pre-configured description lists for common findings. Annotations are saved as DICOM Presentation State objects and persist with the study.
Step 1: Add an arrow
Click Arrow in the Measurements toolbar. Click the target, then click where you want the tail and label to end. Add a text label if prompted.
Step 2: Add a text annotation
Click Text in the Measurements toolbar. Click to position the text anchor, then type. Use Shift+Enter for line breaks.
Step 3: Draw freehand
Use Pencil for freehand drawing (outlining lesions) or Flexpoly for a flexible polygon. Click points; double-click to close the shape.
Step 4: Pick from preset descriptions
On save, the viewer shows a description list (configurable by admins). Pick a standard finding description to keep labelling consistent across the team. Custom descriptions can be added.
Step 5: Save as Presentation State
Click Save. Enter your user name (pre-filled with your login) and confirm. The annotations save as a DICOM PR object and appear with a PR badge on the thumbnail next time the study is opened.
Tips
- Presentation State preserves the exact W/L and zoom at save time. Reopen the study and the PR restores those display settings along with the annotations.
- To hide annotations for a clean screenshot, toggle Hide Annotations in the toolbar. The PR stays saved; only the display is hidden.
