Ultrasound and cardiac studies benefit from dedicated playback and measurement tools in the viewer. This article covers ultrasound multi-frame playback, cine settings, and the Myocardium ROI tool.
Step 1: Play an ultrasound sweep
Open a multi-frame US series. Playback starts at the acquisition frame rate. Use Cine to adjust speed for slower review (for example, 15fps instead of 30fps for carotid sweeps).
Step 2: Measure on paused frames
Pause the cine at the diagnostic frame (typically end-diastole for cardiac). Use standard length and angle tools. Measurements travel with the frame, so scrolling forward shows the measurement only on the frame where you placed it.
Step 3: Apply Myocardium ROI
Click Myocardium ROI in the Measurements toolbar. Outline the myocardium at end-diastole. The tool measures thickness across the ROI and stores the result with the frame. Repeat at end-systole for wall-thickening analysis.
Step 4: Use the Time-Intensity Curve
For contrast-enhanced US or dynamic sequences, Time-Intensity Curve plots intensity across frames. Place an ROI on the tissue of interest; the curve appears below the viewport.
Tips
- Cardiac studies usually come with embedded measurements from the ultrasound console. These show as structured annotations; the viewer displays them on top of the cine.
- If your US cine stutters, the browser is likely throttling background tabs. Keep the viewer tab in focus during playback.
