The AlemHealth multi-monitor Chrome extension automatically spans the viewer across two or more displays. This is the standard setup for radiologists working on dual or triple monitor workstations. Requires Google Chrome 52 or newer.
Step 1: Install the extension
Open the Chrome Web Store and search for AlemHealth extension for multi-monitors. Click Add to Chrome, then confirm. The extension icon appears in your Chrome toolbar.
Step 2: Grant window placement permission
Open the viewer for the first time after installing. Chrome asks for permission to manage windows on all displays. Click Allow. Without this permission the extension cannot place windows on secondary monitors.
Step 3: Configure monitor assignments
Click the extension icon and select how many monitors to use. Pick the primary monitor (where thumbnails live) and the diagnostic monitors (where images display). Save.
Step 4: Verify the layout
Reopen the viewer. The extension spans the viewer across your configured monitors. A multi-viewport layout (for example, 1x2) fills each monitor with one viewport, sized to the physical display.
Tips
- Set your thumbnail panel to Top or Bottom instead of Left. With multi-monitor, vertical thumbnails waste diagnostic real estate.
- If windows open on the wrong monitor, check Windows display arrangement (Settings > Display) and confirm the monitor numbering matches what Chrome sees. The extension relies on the OS numbering.
- The extension only works in Chrome. Firefox and Safari require manual window positioning.
