The viewer includes mammography-specific tools for FFDM and DBT (breast tomosynthesis) reading: Quadrant Zoom for systematic quadrant review, and CAD SR display for showing computer-aided detection findings.
Step 1: Use Quadrant Zoom
Click Quadrant Zoom in the toolbar. The tool enlarges the first quadrant of the active image. Cycle through quadrants with the keyboard shortcut or the on-screen arrow. A locator overlay shows which quadrant you are viewing.
Step 2: Toggle CAD SR marks
If the study includes a CAD SR (Structured Report), CAD marks display automatically. Toggle Show/Hide CAD Marks in the toolbar to switch them off for an unbiased read, then back on to review findings. A count shows findings per image and series.
Step 3: Compare priors
Use the Comparison Study dropdown to load the prior exam. The viewer labels comparison dates on thumbnails. Use hanging protocols to set LCC-RCC-LMLO-RMLO with prior layout automatically.
Step 4: Review tomosynthesis
DBT slabs display as multi-frame series. Scroll the slabs with the mouse wheel. Apply Cine for a systematic tomo sweep.
Tips
- Mammography reads depend on display calibration. Use a 5MP medical-grade monitor and run a monthly QC calibration.
- Not all CAD systems export DICOM SR the same way. If CAD marks do not appear, verify the CAD vendor outputs a Mammography CAD SR object (not a proprietary format).
