When a study reaches your worklist without its order form, you can add the form later from the study page. AlemHealth's AI reads the order form, compares it with the DICOM headers, and lists every field where the two disagree. You decide which value is correct, one field at a time.
This guide covers studies created with Manual Entry and images from a DICOM Folder, DICOMDIR or Sync with Cloud. If you already have the order form when you create the study, use Smart OCR Form in the Add Study wizard instead (see AI-Assisted Study Upload: Auto-Fill Patient and Study Details from OCR Forms).
Step 1: Create the Study with Manual Entry
Go to Studies in the left navigation and click Add Study. The Create a New Study screen opens on the Intake Source stage.
- Under 1. Clinical Documentation, choose Manual Entry.
- Under 2. Imaging Assets, choose DICOM Folder, DICOMDIR or Sync with Cloud, and upload or import the images.
- Click Create Study and finish the remaining stages as usual.
The study is added to your worklist.
Step 2: Open the Study
Find the study in your Work List or Studies list and click it to open the study page (see The Worklist page and The Studies page). The patient name appears at the top left, next to Viewer, Share and Add Order Form.
Step 3: Add the Order Form
Click Add Order Form at the top of the study page and select the scanned referral or requisition for this patient.
As soon as the file is uploaded, the right-hand panel switches to the Intake QA tab and the check begins.
Step 4: Let Intake QA Check the Study
While the check runs, the Intake QA tab shows Reading the order form and comparing it with DICOM data. The AI reads the order form and compares each value with the matching field in the DICOM headers.
You can keep working in the Report tab on the left while this runs.
Step 5: Resolve Each Mismatch
When the check finishes, any disagreements appear under Reconciliation Action Required. Each one is an amber card named after the field, such as Mismatch: Patient Name, Mismatch: Gender, Mismatch: Age or Mismatch: Body Part Examined.
Each card shows the value in the DICOM header and the value the AI read from the order form. For example: The DICOM header lists ABDOMEN, but the OCR extracted CHEST from the requisition. If a card shows a blank DICOM value, that field was empty in the DICOM header.
For each card, choose the correct value:
- Keep DICOM keeps the value from the DICOM header.
- Use Order Form replaces it with the value from the order form.
Check the order form itself before you choose, especially for the patient name, gender and body part.
Tips
Resolve mismatches before you finalize the report, so the report goes out with the correct patient details.
A mismatch is a prompt to check, not an error. Test or anonymized DICOM files often carry placeholder names, so the order form is usually right in those cases.
A body part mismatch can mean the wrong order form was attached. Confirm the form belongs to this study before choosing Use Order Form.
If you have the order form before you create the study, choose Smart OCR Form in the Add Study wizard. The AI fills in the fields up front and flags mismatches before the study is assigned (see AI-Assisted Study Upload).
